About the Show

Hosted by EastEnders star Danny Dyer, The Wall is the ultimate game of strategy, knowledge and luck, with questions asked by TV legend Angela Rippon.

Wildly unpredictable with heart stopping jeopardy, The Wall can give BIG, but it can also take away with just the bounce of a ball so expect colossal wins and heart-breaking losses.

THE FORMAT

In each show one pair take on The Wall in three rounds that tests their general knowledge and trust in each other.

ROUND ONE – FREE FALL

Contestants answer questions together in round one

Contestants start out together playing for fast cash in Free Fall.

A multiple-choice question with two possible answers is asked by Angela and three white balls, from numbers 1, 4 & 7, drop down The Wall.

The balls fall randomly towards one of the fifteen money slots of varying cash amounts at the bottom, hopefully towards the £2.5k slot, the highest amount in this round. The players have until a ball has reached the money to lock in their answer – which is only a few seconds.

If they're correct, the balls turn green and the money the three balls landed in is added to their prize fund.

However, if they're wrong, the balls turn red and the money they potentially could have won is taken away from their prize fund!

NEW: For the latest series, players are now armed with "The Doubler".

The Doubler will turn the balls gold and double the value of wherever the balls land.

If players think they definitely know the answer to a question they can press the Doubler and it will turn the balls gold and double the value of wherever the balls land.

Correct answers make twice as much money, but wrong answers lose twice as much so players had better use it wisely! The Doubler can only be used once in the game.

There are five nerve-shredding questions in Free Fall and the only rule is that players must have cash in the bank after the final question to carry on with the game. This first round is a real challenge to try and choose the correct answer when you are up against the pressure of the time it takes the balls to drop into the money slots.

That cash is then carried over into Round Two.

From round two one contestant faces The Wall alone (pictured), while the other answers the questions in the Isolation Room.

ROUND TWO

Round Two starts with a big twist as the pair split up. The players have decided who should go to the Isolation room and who should stay out front with Danny and The Wall. Once in the Isolation Room, the player is completely cut off from the Studio in a soundproofed box and is completely unaware of which money slots the balls land in.

They will be answering questions that will hopefully earn more green balls and bank even more cash. Their partner stays with Danny and plays The Wall, deciding where to drop the balls from and hoping their partner comes through with the correct answers.

In Round Two even more money has been added to The Wall with the money slots now worth a LOT more money including a massive £25K, so one green ball can make your game, but one red ball can break it.

NEW: In the new series, players are introduced to the exciting, and unpredictable, SuperDrop.

SuperDrop: Round Two kicks off with seven green balls to try and accumulate as much money as possible.

Previously, players would be given two free green balls at the start of the round to try and accumulate cash. But for this series The Wall is giving them SEVEN green balls, one in each number, to give them a potentially huge start to the game.

In one drop players could bank an incredible £175,000!

However at the end of the round players will face the Evil SuperDrop, where they will receive seven RED balls that could do a lot of damage to their total.

The crucial bit therefore is the three questions in between. If the Isolation Player, under intense pressure, gets those questions correct their partner will have a green ball and more chance of banking a life-changing amount of money.

For each question, the Wall Player is shown three possible answers, before deciding which slot to drop the ball from. Their decision is based on whether they think their partner is going to answer the question correctly or not. If they're confident they can go towards the 7 where the big money is on The Wall. If not, they can go towards the 1 where the lower amount are, but whatever they decide, the decision is theirs.

If the Isolation Player is correct the ball turns green, if they're wrong, the ball turns red – but the Isolation Player never knows if they've answered correctly – or how the balls are falling, they are completely in the dark.

For questions two and three, the Wall Player has the chance to double up and then triple up - players make this decision after seeing the possible answers to the question and must decide based on their confidence in the Isolation Player. The balls are all played from the same number and there is a LOT of money to be won AND lost so players must think carefully.

At the end of the round, The Wall Player must try to survive the Evil SuperDrop and whatever money they have in the bank after those seven red balls have dropped is taken through to Round Three.

ROUND THREE

Dropping the ball towards the right-hand side of The Wall can make big money or cause big losses.

Round Three is where the game gets extremely serious as there is now a huge £50k slot added to The Wall.

Round Three works in a similar way to the previous round but this time players get three free green balls to drop, in order to try and maximise their cash winnings.

But again whichever numbers they drop the green balls from they will have to drop three red balls from the same numbers at the end of the round.

The players face three more questions, this time with four possible answers. As before, the Isolation Player will answer the questions while their partner takes risks on The Wall.

Again, for questions two and three, the Wall Player has the chance to double up and then triple up.

THE CONTRACT

A ripped Contract means the contestants will take home whatever is left on The Wall AFTER the final three red balls have dropped

Before the final three red balls are dropped in Round Three, the Isolation Player is sent the Contract. If there is no cash left on the Wall at the end of the round the red balls are not dropped.

If the Isolation Player signs it, the pair take home the sum that was banked in Free Fall PLUS 2.5k for every correct answer they gave in Rounds Two and Three - this is the Guarantee.

However, they're in Isolation so they don't know how well (or badly) they've played and what the final value of the Guarantee is.

If the Isolation Player tears it up, they take the risk that their partner has been more successful and they will take home whatever is left on The Wall AFTER the final three red balls have dropped.

The Isolation player makes their decision in private and the pair are reunited at the end of the game in a tense and emotional reunion.

The Isolation Player then explains how and why they came to their decision before revealing what they have done with the Contract.

With their fate sealed, their partner then tells them what was on The Wall and they either celebrate or commiserate - depending on the decision the isolation player has made.
